Getting ready to do the first non dealer oil change on my 2015 Cherokee with the Pentastar 3.2. Has about 7000 miles on it. I'm going to run synthetic (yet to be determined) and am hoping to go 8-10000+ miles between oil changes. Wanted to stick with a Mopar filter since FCA seems to really try to make things a hassle from what I've read. Will the Mopar filter make it that long?

I have a 2015 Cherokee with the 3.2 as well and have a little over 23k on it. I'm nearing my 3rd OC, sitting at 25% on the OCM, so I have gotten 8-9k on PUP and MO-349's. Other than a few of the pleats being slightly wavy (which didn't concern me since the cartridge is so long), they looked good and felt like they were holding up very well (firm) and could have went longer. You won't have a problem.

Could running it that long effect your warrenty should you have a problem? What is the oci from jeep on that vehicle?? Just would not want to void a warrenty to save 20.00 on oil.

They say 4k but that's on dino. The OLM is at 40% with like 3k on the oil. I'm thinking with synthetic I'll run it down to single digits, so if I stay within that I was thinking I'd be ok.

No, for normal driving conditions the recommendation is to follow the OLM for OCI's, or no more than 10,000 miles or 12 months. Severe duty is 4,000 OCI. As long as you follow that and their oil and filter recommendations, you should be fine on the warranty (theoretically).

This is the first vehicle that I've ever decided to follow the OLM. I've always done 3k's or 5k's depending on the engine, the oil type, and driving conditions. Its been hard to trust it. I've never done an oil analysis before either, so the reason I'm doing one is that I'm hoping it will tell me that it is working correctly and give me some peace of mind.

I think the MO349 looks fine. Its not like they can hide any shoddy construction...Its not hidden away in a metal can.

The book says you should follow the OLM but not go over 10K/12months like ejes says. Oil should say MS-6395 on the bottle and weight is 5w20. I wouldn't go outside of any of that when its under warranty.

The nice thing about the 3.2 and 3.6 is that you can pop that filter out anytime you like to inspect it if you have a concern for some reason. I have to say, so far, the 3.2's performance has really impressed me.

I think that OE Mopar is the Hengst E721H. Hengst filters are good quality and should last the 10k you plan on doing.

Wix is going to be making an XP for the Pentastar soon, but it's not out yet. The WL10010XP will most likely be made in Poland. I don't see it actually for sale yet anywhere on eBay, Amazon, Napa, or any parts stores, but the XP is listed on Opticat.

Autozone has the S11665XL. They claim it's good for 10k, most likely the same as the Pronto Extended Life from Rock Auto. Made in South Korea by Daewha, who also makes K&N's oil filters and some OEM parts, too.

Who says 4K? It's got an OLM the owner's manual tells you to follow. I know on my Pentastar equipped minivan, the OLM will go out to ~8000mi or so. I have gone that far between oil changes. I normally use Napa gold filters on mine and Napa 5w20. Conventional or synthetic, depending on what's on sale.

As long as you follow the OM recs for OCI/FCI under warranty, then the Mopar cartridge is warrantied for that length. That means it's good to go for at least that length. That aside, likely functionally and structurally good for much longer.

As for sticking with Mopar cartridge, your call. From postings here it looks to be a well made cartridge. However, so does the Wix/Napa Gold ('looks' identical) and Fram as linked below. And the scuttlebutt about trying to make things a hassle if other than OEM used sounds like bunk to me. Unless FCA wants to provide the Mopar cartridge gratis, other than making a recommendation they can't say jack squat.

That said, if it makes you more comfortable to use OEM you should do that.

Wife has the Jeep Cherokee with 3.2L V-6.

Oil (Pennzoil Platinum 5w20) gets changed every 7K-8K miles, I buy the Wix WL10010 by the case (12pack) online comes to about $4 a filter with shipping.

Just changed it this morning with about 7600 miles on it at 24% life OCI. Looked pretty darn good still. Never had an issue with any Wix filter before, good quality and they'll stand behind there product.

I have seen an older Mopar filter let go though, sister had a Sebring that was a lease and she always had the dealership do her OC's. Canister filter seam let go/blew out? causing oil to get out all over garage floor. She backed out never saw the oil, engine seized up while driving later that day. Dealership/Chrysler had to install new engine under warranty due defective Mopar filter being the root cause.
