It's a 94 car, and has 116,000 miles on it. I would not change what it has run on at this point. Run what ever it was serviced with, ATF-3 is fine. Short OCI's would be in order to make it live for a while.

I am running Redline C+ in my 94, but the transmission was rebuilt and I changed over at 36,000 miles to the Redline. Amsoil is a great ATF, but Redline or Speciality Formulations for Chrysler transmissions is my choice.

[/qb]
Wasn't 61 the last year Chrysler made the Torqueflite in cast iron? From 62 on they were aluminum and redesigned to take up less space. There is a noticeable difference in the size of the "hump" between a 60 Chrysler and a 62. [/QB]
Corrrect G-Man, '62 was the first year of the aluminum 727 which retained the same pushbutton setup as the cast iron T/F. The 727 had a much smaller external profile and was much much lighter! They even seem heavier now than they were 47 years ago!

I was working on Cast Iron Torqueflites before I was old enough to vote. My first Hot Rod was a '57 Plymouth Plaza coupe in which I put a '59 New Yorker 413, cast Iron T/F and a Ram Induction system from a '61 Dodge.

LCM, I had great luck with Redline when I was involved in racing years ago. I think it overkill in normal circumstances for a daily driven street car, but these electronic OD's justify the difference IMHO. When (not if!) the trans gets redone I will make the switch.

Sorry, should've quoted you directly and said "died," not "burned up." I extrapolated the burned up part for what probably happened after the the fluid leaked out of the seals it was incompatible with.

ATF+4 has replaced ATF+3 at DC dealerships. There may be old stock of ATF+3, but once that runs out, what do you think the dealer will use to service that '94 transmission? It will be ATF+4.

Valvoline ATF+4 is under $4/qt. in the stores. I just used it to flush the old ATF+3 out of my '99 minivan. No worries.
