Mobil Syn High Mileage or Castrol?

Walmart tonight and I saw Mobil Syn High Mileage and the Castrol and the Castrol was 2 dollars more. My two cars have 175k and 96k. I went with the Mobil High Mileage syn. I have been using Mobil syn (not high mileage). I wouldn't notice a difference eh?

What does the High Mileage do? How does it differ from the regular syn?

are you saying castrol gtx HM was more expensive than Mobil 1 High Mileage? thats freakin' weird man. considering the mobil is syn and the castrol is not...

The High Mileage oil has seal re-conditioners and extra detergents.

I've used Castrol High Mileage and I now have Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 in the crankcase. No brainer (for me) - go with Mobil 1 High Mileage. I've been on it about 500 miles now - it took a couple of hundred miles but it's now (typically) putting out no discernable smoke at start-up (otherwise a problem w/ this engine). So it's seal conditioning is excellent. But the best thing is that it feels/sounds better than all the dinos I've ran over the last many years (Maxlife, Castrol High Mileage, ST HM). Yes, very subjective, but I am very plsed w/ Mobil 1 High Mileage !!

The O2 Grand Caravan seems to being going through a quart or less of oil every 2-3 months in the last year. Anything I should look at or be concerned about?

I'm just about to try M1 "high mileage" in my Dodge Durango for my annual trip to Arizona at the end of this month. Generally speaking I've always been a M1 user cuz unless I hear of a better brand I have no reason to change. Castrol "Syntec" I've never tried due to the hoop la about it being a non-true synthetic BUT on the other hand I heard M1 isn't either.

If you change your oil on time using your books schedule then their's no real need to go to high mileage. The standard M1 will suffice. I'm only trying it cuz my trip will happen before my regular scheduled time and will change early and go for about 4K until the next oil change.

Either version will be fine and besides the decision is up to you cuz it's your money.

Are you confusing the M1 High Mileage with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance (extended performance?)

Not trying to start an arguement, maybe I am just reading it wrong. I take your statement as you are using the high mileage because you are going on a road trip and want to go extended miles on the oil, ie.. an extended drain. I thought the high mileage was for vehicles with over 75K, but a High Mileage oil can be used at any time it just has seal reconditioners and extra detergents. The EP is for people wanting to do extended drains.

I thought amsoil has been better than M1??
