I bought some tonight figured i'd give it a try on some of my equipment(least expensive pieces first) and see for myself how good this stuff really is. I've been a loyal Stihl orange bottle user for years. All the hype has got me curious I guess. My question is should I use this mix at 32:1 or 50:1? And is it safe in ALL 2 cycle lawn equipment including Stihl's 4-mix machines? Do you think i'd be risking anything to try it? Thanks

I doubt that you'd be risking anything by trying it, but whether or not it's better than what you've been using depends on the application. Read another thread that discuses this. A note: Mobil Racing 2T is the product that replaces MX2T.
I'm also a Stihl orange bottle user and have been happy with it. Is there a reason you feel a need to try something else?

I mix it 40:1 for all of my equipment.
When in doubt follow the "oil's" advice.
I mix it at 32 to 1 for all my engines, I also add the recomended amount of stabil to the mix as the Mobil oil does not include a stabilizer. My engines don't smoke after warm up and the engines are very clean using this oil at 32 to 1. I always recomend that you mix to the engine manufacturers instructions or richer.
GrtArtiste, Like i said mostly curious, but if mobil burns cleaner and cost 1/3 less thats better for my lungs the environment and my wallet. BTW Stihl mix cost nearly 1.00 per gallon of mix ...................................... Pablo, This oils advice is do what the manufacture says. With several pieces of equipment I was looking for a universal ratio. Looks like 40:1 should cover everything safely. (if i use it) Thanks
I mix Mobil synthetic 2-cycle oil at 3 oz oil to 1 gallon gas, plus stabilizer. That's 42 2/3 to 1.
Runs great in my stuff, which I think all recommends 50:1- a Husqvarna 51 chain saw, Homelite Vac-Attack II blower, & a Stihl FS-85 trimmer.
Compared to a working chainsaw, leafblowers and string trimmers are very low load and can survive on almost any oil or mix ratio, you can even use tcw3 outboard oil. If your cutting wood I'd go at least 32:1.
I mowed tonight for about 2 hours with a Lawn-Boy duraforce 2 cycle self-propelled mower using Mobil Racing 2 T (MX2T) and I didn't see a bit of smoke at 32 to 1. If you think about it 32 to 1 is only 4 oz. of oil in 128 oz. of gas. When you figure that my mower ran two hours at 3100 RPM's on less than two quarts of fuel it only got 1.75 oz. of oil those two hours to do it with. This is why I have a hard time understanding why some folks try to mix as little oil in their fuel as possible. I don't have carbon build up, spark plug fouling, exhaust port pluging, or oil dripping out my muffler with this ratio and My piston and cylinder look smooth and scratch free. IMHO oil is your two-cycle engines friend, you pick the brand, just give it enough to do it's job.
Most people do not understand that less oil, does not automatically mean less emissions, smoke, or a cleaner engine. While most homeowner lawn equipment rarely fails, I do not see it as a good reason to use 500000:1 oil mix.
4 ounces per gallon is so much simpler to mix up, it works fine for most everything. Except maybe the hardest worked engines..
04Specv, I am in total agreement with you! There are some oil marketers that want us to beleive that less oil is good for our engines. Less oil means less additives, less power, and can mean higher operating temps. It should be understood that the oil additive package is responsible for keeping the engine clean and in a two stroke that can be a tough job. You are also right about most homeowner lawn equipment being understressed with the exception of chainsaws so most quality two-cycle oils will do the job as long as they are getting enough of it. I personally like to ensure that my engines get the best oil I can buy and that is why I like the synthetics, I feel they do a better job of keeping the engine clean.
My testing shows that 32 to 1 will provide enough lubrication for nearly any situation, short of a top shelf kart racing engine. That is the universal ratio to use.

Ditto. Most my equipment runs 32:1 anyways, but the Stihl trimmer and leaf blower run 40:1, and the Husqvarna chain saw specifies 50:1. They're all happy on a 32:1 mix, and not a one smokes much if at all.
The only machine that I ran a different mix in was my Lawn-Boy "M" series M21ZMR. They called for 64:1, and since it smoked like crazy on 32:1, I mixed up a little can of 64:1 for it. Only ran one gallon of gas thru that mower before I got rid of it.

My neighbor/best friend has mechanical knowledge that is second to none. Very talented and experienced wrench spinner. I highly respect his opinions and have learned volumes from him. I help him wrench on anything he's working on so I can increase my knowledge/experience. One time I helped him cut down 100 orange trees to clear an area for a new home. He bought three brand new Husqvarna chain saws that spec'd 50:1. He took the manuals threw them in the trash and filled all three with oil bought at the store at the time of saw purchase at 32:1. We flogged the saws for days. They are all still running great. He runs all his 2 strokes at 32:1 and I speculate always will. I run all my 2 strokes at 32:1 (2T) including my Stihl chainsaw which specs 50:1 and it runs great (no smoking, plug fouling, bla bla...).
I recently purchased a used Toro CCR2000 3.5 HP single stage snowblower. It calls for a mix of 50:1 - would I be safe using either 40:1 or 32:1??

Today I mixed a syn. purchased at the Polaris dealer called VES GOLD at 32:1 and the Homelite saw loved it.No smoke and more power than i have seen before with this saw.This oil has a 'sweet' odor i have never experienced
