Gallon of cheapest regular gas, 4 oz Mobil 2T, 1oz Seafoam for the Lawnboys. Same thing for everything else but oil reduced to 40:1. Just can't stretch myself to 50:1. I gave up on MMO and Stabil in favor of Seafoam, why I don't know.

I have two favorite recipes and I use 89 octane for both and I mix at 40:1.

1. Hydrotex HyFilm HyRev 2-cycle oil. I add one ounce of Hydrotex Essentialube per gallon of gasoline.

2. Lubrication Engineers 8104 2-cycle oil. I add one ounce of Lubrication Engineers L-X additive per gallon of gasoline.

FYI, I use this mix in the following equipment. Four Lawn-Boy mowers ranging in age from 1964 to 2002, one Lawn-Boy edger (1964), one each Echo, Stihl, and RedMax blower, one Husky trimmer, one Toro snowblower, and one Ariens snowblower.

1. For my Echo SRM-210 trimmer, I'm currently using 1 gallon 89 octane with Poulan synthetic oil at 50:1. The oil is pretty [censored] IMO, and I won't be using it again. It leaves a lot of oil deposits around the muffler, way more than any other oil I've used.

2. For my Craftsman blower, I use 1 gallon 87 octane with the same Poulan oil at 40:1. It nearly overheated last week after only about 5 min of using it, never had that happen on any other oil.

The only reason I use 89 octane in the trimmer is simply because the owner's manual says to use it, and I like going by the manufacturer's recommendations. Any reason why they recommend this over 87 octane? I think my dad used to use 87 octane in it and it never hurt anything.

EDIT: The censors on this site are pretty touchy aren't they? I can't even say c_r_appy without it censoring me? Jeez what the h_ell is the big deal?

My equipment uses 40:1. Yet, the oil I buy for it is 3.2 oz with fuel stabilizer. In the book it says to use .8 oz per gallon of fuel stabilizer....SO when I buy their mix I'm only getting 2.4oz of oil and .8 of stabilizer.

2.4 per gallon = 47:1

I need to find a good air cooled oil and mix it 3.2oz oil + .8oz stabil.


Is the Quicksilver that is good for air AND water cooled good stuff?

My base OPE fuel:

- 91 AKI ethanol-free V-Power (my OPE fuel is also emergency supply for the car so it has to be 91)
- normal Sta-bil dose
- normal FP-60/FP+ dose

My echo trimmer uses so little fuel and is often dormant during the hottest months that I mix my two-stroke fuel by the cup (about 1/2 a trimmer tank):

- 250mL (~1 cup) of the above fuel
- 5ml (~1 tsp) of Amsoil Saber ATP

This results in ~50:1, which is the ratio recommended by the engine manufacturer. I have no reason to go to 100:1. Last year was particularly dry and I only used 1.5 cups for the year!

Johnny, I thought you used Schaeffer's 2-cycle?

I switched. The Schaeffer's is a TCW-3 oil and I believe better suited for outboard use.

I'll make simple for you,boys. 1 ounce bottle of echo semisynthetic w/stableizer dumped into 2 cycle gas can and filled with 1 gallon of shell v power and viola!!.....my summer mix is done!!!

For my yamaha snowmobiles it's 93 oct. with Amsoil Interceptor oil injected @ 46:1.

for my weed wacker and chain saw it's Poland's syn. oil(from wally)87 oct. @ 35(saw)-40:1(wacker).

I run 87 octane for when I am using equipment alot, Through the summer etc. When storing, I use 89 octane, old timer told me this years and years ago.. For Oil I have about 25 yes 25 cases of Shindaiwa 2 cycle oil in the 1 gal and 2.5 gal mixers.

I run all Shindaiwa trimmers (4 of them)
Stihl saws will get the stihl mix or Shindaiwa never a probelm

1 gallon of 87 octane fuel, 4 oz of MX2T for a 32:1 mix. Lawnboy, Craftsman saw, trimmer, and blower, and an Echo trimmer. I believe you cannot have too much oil, in the mix, or in the stash.

Any bottle of syn blend (currently Echo)that says ..."mix the contents of this bottle with 1 gallon of gasoline for 50:1..." I use Shell V-Power and a shot of Stabil.

The Echo calls for 50:1 but the other two want a richer mixture, so I run them all the same. My run all my stuff on one of 2 power settings: WOT and off.

They all run like champs...

Some call for 50:1, but I have no problems so far with 40:1.
I bought 12qts of the Mobil 2 stroke oil when it was mentioned here on this board that it was no longer being produced. Great stuff for the price compared to the other premium 2 stroke oils when you compare the price per ounce of product.
