Hi Y`all, I`m just wondering what you oil professional`s recommend for my 01 Lexus RX 300 awd with 98,000 miles. The PP or the MO 0W-30
Thanx,Ryan

I would use whatever is cheaper and call it a day. Both are good oils. Though you **Might** get a slight mileage bump with the 0w30 for short trips.

I like m1 chemistry with toyota metalurgy, personally... I wouldn't think twice using M1 in your vehicle... Our toyota previa is 14 years old and doesn't use a drop of M1 in 10k intervals after 220k miles! We generally see less than 8ppm iron at such an interval, and just a trace of the other wear metals. M1 does phenominally in toyota engines it seems.

I have not used Pennzoil Platinum. I use Mobil 1 10w30 in a Pontiac Mini van 3.4 liter. Pontiac loves this oil, all valve clattering has disappeared. This is only true of 0w30 and not other Mobil 1 grades. My other experience is in a Malibu with Super tech Synthetic 5w30. Which is also good, but Mobil 1 is better. I change oil around 50% oil life monitor remaining.
You will be ok with both of them, I think us oil fans change oil more than neccessary any way.

As far as Mobil 1 goes....I think 0w20 and 0w30 are great oils. I can't say that about their 5w20 or 5w30.

As far as PP goes....just don't know. I want to think that their 0w and 5w oils are very, very good, but don't know whether ow20 or their 5w20 is better.

Currently, we are running Mobil 1 0w20 in my daughter's T-Yaris and it loves it.

But, based upon Valvoline's challenges....I am loosing my faith in Mobil 1. I have 8 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 ready to go in my vehicles....first time I have ever used PP.

If all goes well....it will be PP for me from this point forward....that is until my daughter's T-Yaris slips past its warranty...and then it is 12 month OCI's on Amsoil for us....and it will be 0W20.
