That TBN 5.6 is a lot lower than what E/M has on their PDS. They show the TBN at 12. Maybe they are using something else that can’t be picked up on a VOA ?

Its much more important to monitor TAN and oxidation, @wwillson has published several UOAs demonstrating its importance for extended OCIs.
I’m not concerned about it since I don’t do anywhere near extended drain intervals. I just thought it was odd the difference in what the VOA showed and what E/M list in their PDS. It has taken me more than 6 months to put 3k miles on my truck but it gets a little more frequent use in warmer weather.

My thanks again to 53’ Stude for his efforts and expense.

re welcome. Now if someone would man up and do VOA on Delvac 10w30

TBN is probably low due to the lab using the ASTM method meant for used oils, instead of the method meant for virgin oils. An oil with this much Ca, Mg, B, will not have a low TBN.

Currently have this exact oil in my 1025R with about a year and 40 hours on it. Will be changing in about a month for the year.

Compared to Rotella T6 15W-40 on a Universal M25 diesel engine (Catalina sailboat)? Been advised the 15W is preferable to the 5W for this engine. Only operates May through October in Michigan.
