I don't trust the TBN. Every HPL HDEO I've done a baseline sample starts at >=13 TBN.

with 3k calcium and 1k magnesium the tbn will be well over 10.

Done Sir! This has the highest add pack totals for a 30 grade HDEO. Definitely an extended drain oil!

ALS Tibology = ASTM D4739

That was straight from ALS phone call. I would say the lady on the phone didn't seem all that helpful so you could be correct but why in the world would they tell me something incorrect if they didn't truly know? Who knows... you know how that goes.

UPDATE: You must be using the Kansas City location or show something different? Atlanta ALS Tibology uses the ASTM D4739 method I stated earlier for oil & that would be different than what HPL uses through a 3rd party analysis company hence the BN differences.

Justin, you are correct. My other two samples were sent there as well.
