I took my mom’s car to a Speed Lube ( a local oil change facility) here in my town. They use to feature Quaker State and Pennzoil and changed to Mobil Clean. The pumps inside the garage say “Mobil Clean”..not Mobil Clean 5000. Is it safe to presume this is the 5000 series of their conventional oil or is it the old stuff they use to bottle and sell on store shelves.???

Yeah, the bulk Mobil Clean is slightly less additized than Mobil Clean 5000. Still a good oil, though.

Yeah Mobil Clean comes in several varieties. There's also supposed to be (according to Mobil's website) a MC7500, but I've never seen it in any stores.

MC 5000 has shown the lowest amount of oil usage out of a dozen different oils I have tried in my 00 Saturn. The car went from using 6-10 ounces of oil every 3K, to now using NO oil per 3K. Pretty happy with the oil and the price of it. Not that there is anything wrong with Pennzoil conventional as that is a wonderful oil.

I don't see a Mobil Clean on the Mobil website, just MC5000, MC High Mileage, and MC7500. But I know that they had Mobil Clean before they had MC5000. It's possible that Mobil Clean is produced for bulk users only though.

I second what Saturn_Fan said. I know of at least 4 people with similar-era GM cars that experienced greatly reduced oil burning on MC5000. I'm going to try it after I use up what I have now.

Huh, I wonder why it's reduced oil burning in many peoples cars? I wonder if it has to do with the light duty diesel rating of CF? Is a thicker 5w30 compared to other brand 5w30's?

Does the light duty diesl reting of CF on it have anything to do with lowering oil consumption? Is it a thicker oil?

I think this is Mobil Drive Clean otherwise known as MDC in bitog in the past. It is the same oil that was once the GM Goodwrench oil. MDC is a bulk sales only oil since Mobil came out with 5000.

Well, they word it so that the consumer probably thinks they are getting MC5000. But I can smell their [censored] in the wind. LOL.
But I know that the MDC isn't a bad oil per say

Wasn't there a Mobil Drive Clean years ago in blue bottles with labels where there's a small circle with a picture of sloshing oil and a huge red circle around that? I think I remember seeing that in 20/50 at Big Lots.
