Schaeffers 9000 has a base stock similar to Mobil 7500 but the additive package is better than the 7500.
Mobil Clean 7500 good choice?

My 1st pick in a blend would be Syntec Blend, but Clean 7500 is fine too.
It's a decent blend but for the same price or less, you can get PP. The lowest price I've ever got 7500 was for $1.99/qt but that was with a coupon at Checker. It's usually in the high $3.00 range. Lots of auto parts stores are selling PP for $1.99 after rebate. I guess my point is you can get a full synthetic instead of a blend for less.

I got 45 qts. of Mobil Clean 7500 for $1.25/qt. due to a price mistake. So the price element is out of the question as far as it being expensive.
I also know there are deals on PP which I actually stacked up on for my newer vehicles. But since I am inquiring my older vehicle that has 107k on the odometer, I'm a little weary of going the full synthetic route after so many dino runs. Thus I went with the synthetic blend.

I'd get MC Syn Blend over Mobil Clean 7500...for the price especially. No way it could be GIII/GIV blend...that'd make it a full synthetic and maybe better than regular Mobil 1 (as someone else mentioned) if it's a GIII now . Their web site says it's "a blend of premium conventional base fluids and a high-performance synthetic fluid." I'd think if it was III/IV, they wouldn't be calling it a blend.
But I much prefer my stash of $1.99 and $2.89 Pennzoil Platinum.

You never mentioned such a major price difference in your first post inside this thread. For $1.25, yes it's good deal. It's actually a no-brainer for my 4.5K OCIs using home-brew syn-blends.
would using the AAP oil filters with the Mobil 7500 be safe for 4k oci?

Suspected slightly thinner outer shell and less media pleats on the AAP filter - versus the regular Purolator Premium Pluses. There's a recent thread on this over at the Filters forum.
atleast the AAP filter seems to get better reviews than the Fram.
I would buy it at a buck a quart, in a heartbeat.
Most AAP's are sold out already, so if you can find some leftover at the 95 cent clearance price, i'd jump on it
