Mobil Clean 5000 users?

Thank you for the responses. I really did give Havoline a good try a few times, and I'm sure it's a great oil, but I personally do not like how dark it appears as you pour it from the bottle, and after only 500 miles my vehicles, it is really dark, so much so, that by the time 3000 miles roles around, it looks filthy.
I know that color is no way to judge, but it's just a personal preference I suppose.

I'm using it and have noticed the yellow haze as well.

I recently purchased Toyota Camry 2007,
the specification calls for 5w20 or 0w20.
When I was driving 2003 Corolla it calls for
5W30.
Why they have changed to 5w20 or 0w20 ?

1)Corollas and Camry's have different designed engines.
2)5W-20 help increase manufacturer gas mileage standards (CAFE).
3)Four years has elapsed since your last purchase. Technolgical advances have become staggering. What used to take technology 100 years to double - is now doubling closer to every 15 years.

What our young grandchildren are going to witness in their elderly years is too mind-boggling to even consider in 2006.

To the original poster: I used the 5000 (and its big brother 7500) when it was first introduced. I liked it very much, especially at the then intro and promotional prices (free at one point). I'm presently working through a large supply of Schaeffers, but would have no qualms going back to the 5000 in a NA engine.

Despite the "warranty", I would not blindly run it 5k in every engine without a confirming UOA. Just be aware of the high sodium readings these new EOM formulae seem to generate.

Yes, I’m aware of the high sodium counts this oil has. There has been a lot of discussion on this board about this single issue with the Mobil 5000. I have driven two vehicles beyond 200k and never performed one UOA on them. Anytime I've ever had a coolant leak, I would notice it within a few months because I keep a very close eye on resevoir bucket, and I note the levels with a black line to where I want it topped off at and check it a couple times a month while the engine is cold in order to ensure the level isn't dropping.

There have been times when the level has dropped, and in those instances I would take it to my mechanice and they would find the problem which in most cases was minor, accept for the one time my head gasket was cracked. So I don't think that being concerned about sodium levels as and additive in the oil should be of huge concern.

I've put on a couple hundred more miles on my new fill of Mobil Clean 5000 and I still can not belevie it. The oil has become more yellowish/florescent looking than it did the last time I checked it? Does anyone know if this has to do with the way various chemicals react with the add pack? Has anyone else ever observed this?

I just checked my oil the other day in my t-bird with the 4.6 liter

i've got about 1000 miles on my first oci of Mobil 5000, and wow it is very yellowish looking

I now also have upwards of 1000 miles on my first run of Mobil 5000, still very yellowish looking on the stick too. Very strange. Either this stuff is very good and the contaminants interacting with the oil are causing this color to appear or it is no good. I'm sure it is a good oil... I will say that it more florescent/yellow looking now than ever, and when you pour it in your engine, it looks like the dark Havoline I poured in several months ago.

Yes, I've used Mobil 5000 for my first two oil changes on my 92 240sx 165,000.
At 2500 miles my oil got dark quick due to the cleaning additives and aggressive driving. My opion the 5000 work well with cars that have high miles to clean engine build up. People with newer car say the oil tends to run nosie.
Now, I bought 7500 on sale 1.99 qt with some Valvoline Synthetic Stop Leak w/ Wix filter. My car is running better than expected for just a oil change. My engine leak has slowed to a drip.
