Mobil 1 SM quieter than SL ????

I apologise if this has all ready been discussed but... Has anyone noticed the new Mobil 1 SM being any quieter than the older Mobil 1 SL ? I have a ford with the 4.6 and a Nissan with the 3.5 and both were a little noisy (ticking sounds coming from engine area). I always use Mobil 1 5w30 since new and have had no issues other than a little elevated noise levels. Now that I've used up all my inventory and have purchased some new Mobil 1 5w30, I noticed that both engines seem a little quieter. Not whisper quiet, but noticable.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience ??

I thought it was interesting that Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 is thinner than Mobil 1 5w30...and both are thinner than Castrol's new european market Edge 0W-30.

Perhaps due to Mobil 1 5w30 moving from 10.0 cSt @ 100º C ** to 11.3 cSt @ 100º C ***?

It seems to me that a thicker oil would tend to quiet an engine down a bit.
