How is Amsoil overrated? By whom? I have not seen on this thread where someone said Amsoil was "better".

Sorry folks. Just sayin' my peace. there is alot of bashers off Mobil 1 and such. I'm not bashing Amsoil. I'm sure they have great products. Just gets old hearing the same thing. Just 'cause it costs more, dosn't mean it's better. Most of the big oil companies have lots of coin for R&D and testing.Just because the base oils might be grp3, don't make it [censored] either. Again, Not saying Amsoil's bad stuff. I see some posts where folks get it cheaper than Mobil 1. I've looked into doing the Amsoil thing several times and every time I do the math, it cost more for Amsoil. And as far as the 25,000 mile thing. That's only in ideal cases that will work. Very small % of cars and light trucks can go that far on any oil. I don't care if it's the apostles synthetic company.

Yeah oil companies have a lot of money to spend, but Amsoil is not exactly hurting either, the most important factor to consider is not how much money but how well the resources are being used.

I'm looking for a reason to stop using Mobil 1 in my vette. One reason other then delivery is the cost. When Mobil is on a huge sale somewhere then its cheaper. Otherwise the Amsoil is equal to or the better buy. When I order its not just for one vehicle. I also hate shopping in stores. I like Amsoil products a lot. Just wanted to make sure Amsoil Xl and Mobil 1 is a heads up equivalent.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. But why are you looking for a reason not to use Mobil?
Hate going to a store to buy it. Don't have the confidence in it like I do Amsoil products. Price. Unless you spend time looking for sales and driving somewhere and such. I always hear what a great buy Mobil 1 is but I don't find that. I would buy it at either Walmart or O'reilly's. I never see Mobil as a great buy at either when I do go into one of those places.

I'm aware you shouldn't blindly follow these suggested service intervals as you may be able to extend OCI's but it gives a good comparison:

I have used synthetic oils since the early 1970s Started off with CHEMLUBE. That name familer with anyone.
