I've been running M1 oil filter along with PP 10w-30 combo for quit some time now and the OCI is at 6000 miles. I know that the filter can go much longer than 6000 miles, however, I've been changing it every 6000 miles. I am wondering how many of BITOG members use M1 oil filter and at how many miles do you change the filter? Thanks!

I usually just run them one OCI, about 7500 miles. I'm usually using MaxLife Synthetic, so one OCI is good enough for me.

I pick them up at F&F when the $4.99 sale is going on, so the expense is low as well.

I change M1 filters anywhere from 8-12k miles. For shorter intervals from 5-8k miles I have been using PureOne. Nothing real scientific, just the way I have been doing for some time.

I have gone as many as 15k on a M1 oil filter once with no bad effects. I have gone as many as 10k on a PureOne.

6k miles should be a breeze for a M1 filter.

I'm changing the M1-110 filter every other scheduled oil change as per Honda's instruction, which works out to about 12-13K miles. No weirdness noticed during the last interval.

Sure wish we had an F&F out here. $10 or more a filter unless you get it as part of an oil change special.

I would cut one open to verify but I would guess 10K miles is no problem, especially using synth. Certainly a Honda could go 10K+ since it's clean running.

And my estimate is ANY synth can go 6K miles but PP is wasted at this OCI. I think it should be able to go 8-10K depending on application. Check UOA or do your own.

I agree that PP can go much longer, however, I do drive short distances and plus I stock up when PP is $.99/qt

For the next oil change, I'm going to use leave the M1 filter on and change only the oil. Thanks.

It's $10 for a M1 filter which is a lot cheaper than an engine. Change the filter and don't chance it.

ice cut open the m1-110. Its has less media. Does this synthetic media really work that well, that it can trap more and hold more than a filter with a lot more media?
