Mobil 1 M1-209 tear-down

I've had one of these sitting on my shelf since we sold the Focus so figured I'd do a C&P.

Observations:
- Can is quite thick and took a bit to get through
- Base/threaded-end bypass valve assembly
- Very heavy baseplate
- Lots of media/pleats, tightly packed, mostly uniform
- Media is a single layer of a cellulose/synthetic blend. It feels like cellulose and tears like cellulose
- Deflecting the bottom of one of the pleats at the potting didn't result in it tearing, which echos our experience with these filters, they don't seem to tear

This is the same oil filter on my trucks engine right now. My son bought it for me for my current OCI.
So, would say that this is a good or great oil filter?

Thats an old design before they switched to green boxes. My understanding newer ones (in greenish boxes) are step down in quality? This one looks pretty good!

M1 is a solid filter. I’ve cut open a few between the Mazda and Giulia, all held up exceptionally well.

This is the Champ Labs made M1 with integrated thread end bypass. Some used this design, some used dome. Any date code on dome? When sold at Walmart were/are same price or more than the original Ultra. Topic filter a good filter.

M1 on shelves now, have a new manufacturer.
