I went to Walmart to browse around and grab a few groceries. I was looking at oil filters for my Accord just to see what they stocked. The only ones they have are the Fram TG ($7) and Mobil 1 110 ($9). How are these Mobil 1 filters? How do the Honda OEM's compare to these?

I have run a Mobil 1 110a on my Altima 3.5 for 12k miles and it was fine. No problems with any start up rattle. 99% at 30 micons is pretty decent.

The M1 is fine as a Fram TG or XG would be.
I'd personally recommend the Fram XG (Ultra), which is what's on my '12 Accord ATM.
I have an M-110 which I'll use on either the Accord or our Forester.
The Forester is on an M108 (shorter) ATM.

Have used Mobil 1 filters for many years - HE and built like a tank - have an Mobil 1-M212 on the ecoboost and one on the Fusion - run them 10k worry free ... also use FU's ...

I may hit the other Walmarts here in town. The one nearest to me seems to have a tiny filter selection.

You can always order online and have it shipped to store for free if they don't stock it, or order other stuff and have it shipped to home for free (over $35 I think).

I saw a 12 pack of the real Ultras on EBay for $59 shipped.
XG3614 and others. These are the real gold grippy ultras... Cheap!!!

How are these filters on there so cheap? Any theories? Old stock, Huge markup at Walmart, counterfeit?

Honda's OEM filter is the OCOD with a silicone ADBV. So the TG is a slight upgrade from OEM.

Between the two you're considering, I'd go with the TG since it does have the grippy texture to make it easier to remove. That said, there's certainly nothing wrong with the M1, except for being a bit overpriced in light of the Fram Ultra.

If you're near another Walmart that has the Fram Ultra, get that instead. Or the Napa Platinum (Wix XP), on sale for $8.99 this month.

I want to mention that you'll need either a cap or finger type filter wrench to get the oil filter off.
I prefer the latter since it'll work with any oil filter while cap wrenches are typically fussier about what they'll fit tightly enough to work.
The oil filter on this engine is partly in a relief in the sump and I doubt you'll be able to get enough of a grip on it to remove it.
I know I can't.

What someone posted before was liquidated stock - maybe so - we shop at a couple liquidation stores (not car stuff) and amazed at the deals out there for quality items.
I'll cut open a new can when they get here ...

They're generally OK, but watch for dented ones-the last two batches of 6 Ultras I picked up off eBay had 1 or 2 dented domes (which I was able to get refunded for)-they tend to be packed poorly when shipped. Last six came stuffed in a Priority Mail envelope, that didn't work out too well.

That isn't a whole bunch cheaper than Meijer at a deal, like the current BOGO 50% off on all Fram oil filters.
Combine that with another mPerks deal and you really aren't saving much buying filters off fleabay that get damaged in shipping or that may have been damaged before.
Of course, if you need an odd part number, then online might be the only way to get it for reasonable dollars.

Think of a really good grocery with nice produce, meats, poultry and seafood along with everything else the evil empire has with often better pricing.

I've used the Fram TG7317, XG7317, and Mobil1-110 for over 200,000 miles on two Civics. Use the TG7317 and be happy if you do the recommended 7500 mile OCI, otherwise buy whichever of the XG7317 or M1-110 is cheaper at the time. All of the above assumes that you are using quality synthetic oil, which you probably are if you post to BITOG.
