Decided to give the new Mobil 1 oil filter a run switching from the AC Delco PF47E

While not a C&P because I obviously need to use it here is some pictures.

Will still continue running Mobil 1 Full Synthetic High Mileage 5w30 for 5,000 mile intervals or 6 months.

Made in South Korea
Over 99% Efficiency @ 30 Microns
And unlike the Microgard Select or similar filters this one does not have the bypass valve built in which is how it should be considering the 4.3 Vortec has a bypass valve built in.

Great filter! Best available at Wally for a one stop shop!
I always purchase oil at Walmart, they have AC Delco always in stock but with the recent QC issues within Fram and even Champ and the fact that First Brands is in bankruptcy proceedings I figured I might as well switch now because eventually it will have to happen.

Plus it is a slightly better efficiency considering the AC Delco is 98% at 30 Microns.

Looks great, finally Mobil 1 ditching that Purolator garbage.
It does seem that M+H might be starting to increase quality control, especially the WIX XP but it is made in Mexico and it would take a long time for people to build that trust again. I ran Purolator on my Dodge vehicles and back then it was good quality it is a shame what has happened to one of the last of the few American made oil filter companies since M+H took over.

Among your factors in deciding to switch to the Mobil filter, this one is really a non-factor. No engine is ever going to know the difference between 98% @30 micron and 99% at 30 micron efficiency.

I never said that was a deciding factor, if it was I wouldn't have been running the AC Delco filter for years knowing it was 98% efficiency at 30 microns. More efficient is more efficient on top of that while continuing to run Toyota oil filters on my Toyota knowing those are in the 40 micron range.

The deciding factor is the QC control issues in First Brands products followed by their bankruptcy proceedings. In fact when I went to buy this oil filter I looked at one of the PF47E from the shelf because I always inspect before buying and I noticed the filter media looked mushroomed on one portion of about 4 pleats.

Back in the days, 70's - 90's , I always ran either Delco or Purolator in my GM's. They were consistently great filters. Never had any engine failures with them. Nowadays, you have no clue as to where there being manufactured, the QC control. I just look inside with a flashlight and hope for the best. Runnin Toyota's and a Honda now. Got away from GM in 1989. It was a Buick Regal Gran Sport with the 3.8. I just switched gears and went to Toyota's / Nissan's / Honda's...
