Your still lucky. Here it's been USD 20 or more for years.. Castrol and Valvoline is even worse...

paid 30 bucks for a 5qt jug at wally world. One of my customer works for walmart and gets 10% off, so he'll be buying oil for me from now on!

Castrol Syntec (not GC) 5W20 (they were out, but the label said so) is 6.38 at AA. Mobil1 was 5.38 but all they had was 10W30, 10W40 and 20W50 No 5W at all. This is a strange time of year to have lots of thick in stock, and no thin..

Valvoline was 6.98 as was PP. Both were unavailable in 5W20, but did have some 5W30 and LOTS of 10W30 and 10W40. 5W20 must not be selling is all I can say. I have no idea what they're thinking. Meanwhile, I guess it'll be awhile for the oil prices to catch up to motor oil..

The price of motor oil doesn't seem to have any correlation to crude oil, or any other patrolium prices. It seems to be its own entitiy, and the price just keeps going up.....and at an alarming rate. I don't understand why.

It's still $21 and change here.

For me, it is still cheaper then Amsoil ASL (to my door). That is why I switched.

Thanks

Don't forget that the base oil in the oil is not the only thing that cost money. The oil companies have to buy the additives to and their price has also been on the steady incline. Plus you have to add in inflation, increased labor and operating cost etc... It all add's up to higher engine oil prices. Life sucks dosen't it.

Sam's club has a 6qt box for $26.XX! My 4 Runner takes 5.5 so Ill be buying it from there!

Mobil 1 is still a pretty good buy (compared to everywhere else) at Wal Mart in the 5 quart bottles.
I recently bought 5w30 M1 in a bottle that said "for trucks and suv's". It didn't cost more and it meets a spec that isn't listed on the standard M1 bottle. Is it a better product, even though I am using it in a car? If so, I don't see any reason to go back to the standard M1.

You guys are making me feel real good about loading up with 66 quarts of M1 during PepBoys B1G1 calendar offer last year.

Trouble is, as I use that stash up, I also do the free MaxLife Syn and PennPlat deals....

________ you, BITOG! :-)
