mobil 1 HM

In sept i changed the oil in my oil burner bad valve guide stem geo prism oil burning eating beater that just wont die.I had a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 laying in the garage from a friend so I used it.Well,oil burniing has stopped dead in it,s tracks.No more cold start blue smoke in the morng.This stuff really works.

Put the same stuff in an abused Saturn engine. I swear that stuff is magic. Stopped oil consumption, cleaned up engine nicely and runs smooth as silk.

I put it in my '99 Civic EX, that sees about .5 quart consumption every 4-5k, about 1,000 miles ago. I'm not expecting much but if it can help, great.

I've read that it's good stuff though.

Slowly converting the Crown Vic over to Mobil Clean 5000 High Mileage oil,to see if it's slows oil consumption down any at all,should be interesting.

In my limited experience, having used both in the same car, the Mobil 1 High Mileage was heads and shoulders above maxlife.

Ok.

FYI - our Camry blows smoke at cold start-up & leaks at the rear seal.

The Maxlife helped a little, but I put in M1 for the Winter and the leak is back in full bore.

May have to go to Mobil 1 High Mileage... (?)

The prism calls for 10w30 and I was using SuperTech High Mileage 10w30 but still added a quart every 700 miles.With the Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 3000 miles and still no oil loss.Not sure if it,s the oil, or going up to a 40.

I use both the Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 and 10w40 in my M54. As far as I am concerned they are the best oil for this engine .

Can't comment on leaks. I'm only guessing that the saturns oil consumption was
due to stuck rings.

Hope it works as well for you as it has done for me.

An update:

Oil consumption has stayed about the same or slowed just a touch. It's only my first OCI with Mobil 1 High Mileage so I'll give it a couple more tries and see if it improves.

I agree with the Mobil 1 High Mileage oil. My '02 Saturn SL1 (SOHC) 122,000 mi used 1 quart every 1,000-1,200 miles with Mobil 1 5w50 regular.

When I switched to Mobil 1 5w30 High Mileage, oil consumption greatly improved, and now the car is using 1 quart every 3,000 miles.

I'm sold on the stuff.

Yes. I have bad valve seals, the Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 almost stops it completely. Now I mix a quart and top off with it and use regular M1, all is well

I've used both and it is better than MaxLife. But then, it should be as it's more expensive...
