Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 meets mostly European specifications and has a relatively high HTHS viscosity around 3.5 cP. Unlike most Mobil 1 oils, it has some ester base oil in it. There is an older and newer version and both are still being sold. The newer one has 0.8% sulfated ash (more metallic additives) than the older one which has 0.6% sulfated ash. Both meet same or nearly the same specifications.
The ESP line is good stuff. I believe all viscosities (0w40, 0w20, 0w30, 5w30) are in the ACEA C category (Catalyst compatible oils for Gasoline and Light Duty Diesel Engines with Aftertreatment devices). That in itself requires them to be extended drain interval products. I use ESP 5W30 and 0W20 in my vehicles (depending on vehicle) and go 10k miles b/t oci's.
