First sampled OCI was M1 EP 0w20, still had some Honda Type 2 factory fill which upped moly. While not the 1.5T, my car so far is showing some fuel dilution which is why I would not run 10-11K OCI with the factory OLM (I do a lot of HWY miles).

This OCI stayed in grade at the low end, yet it was only 5K. I could re-sample and see if it levels out, but given the dilution and its inexpensive if you DIY to change it more often, that's what I did. 0w30 ESP is in there now, curious how it shears in a 5K sample.

I have no preference with thin vs thin: I just want to protect and have it work. If the lube is protecting and staying in grade I have no issues with longer drain intervals on a 16 or 20 grade. My feeling is: you buy a high output engine for fun and not fuel economy, so a 30 grade as many have pointed out gives some more buffer for shear and such.

If this sample is actually with EP could you please edit the title to avoid confusion when people are searching for specific UOAs? Thanks

The ESP is shining it seems & from what we've gathered should have some more stable viscosity. Still no substitute for 30 grade & why not have some buffer for longer intervals if that is what you're after. Hope Al comes down for you after a bit of miles though.

Could have been worded more clearly. @bvl, what lab?

Apologies, I thought it was, but folks figured it out. Yes the lab is Oil Analyzers, just snipped the data portion.

Since the report has 2 sample lines, I wanted to offer up what that first OCI was not the same fluid and also a bit of cross contamination from FF (EP does not have that level of moly)

From the limited samples, both EP and ESP work fine in a 20 grade for my driving habits but I would be weary of extended drain intervals without a 7k/9K sample to see if things level off, or it continued to fall into a 16 grade.

I have seen the reports from our EU friend running Type 2.0 oil on their CTR and it holds up fine but its not something we get here in the US, and we have some good choices at wally world :)
