Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30, 2.9k mi; 2022 Toyota Tundra

What that TSB referenced means (in other words) is that any brand of API certified, current ILSAC 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 can be referred to as: "Toyota genuine engine oil". So that big bulk drum of Amalie or Chevron 5W-30 out back "there you go sir have a nice day!"

I hear you on watching them pour it in - or pump it. My VW dealer a few years ago pulled a fast one on me on a prepaid maintenance package. So now, I am changing the oil on my new trucklet myself. Sadly (for me) it has a huge undertray that requires removal. At least I only do Spring and Fall oil changes with about 2300 miles in between them, now that I am retired and no longer commuting 23,000 miles a year. - Arco
Apologies I had you confused with the other poster. I wasn't sure what to take away from your post. That is definitely news to me. A new description of TGMO.

That TSB was from 2006. Referring to Toyota Genuine Engine Oil definition (and likely such nomenclature in O.M and on R.O) and then proper back spec'ing (or not) lower viscosity engine oil in certain engine families. This at a time when we were moving away from the ubiquitous 5W-30 multigrade.

Now, what Toyota up-spec for their "TGMO" bottled motor oil suppliers for a service part is a whole 'nuther ball of wax.

Funny note for the thickies here at the bottom of the Toyota TSB relating to 0W-20 and 0W20 Engine oil
