For the first time, I actually got the name of the guy in my email. About a week plus later, but he wrote back to my Mobil 1, Mobil 1 Extended Performance question.....I love the last line he throws in there

Matt has generally been the one that responds to all my emails. I don't care that Mobil 1 is not longer 100% PAO/V blend. What I do care about is the lackluster performance of their oils in general. You have oils out there like PP, Havoline , Amsoil XL and others that are less expensive and show better results. Shouldn't be the case based on price.

He 100% right though in that the end result is all that matters. Could they be more forthcoming about what they use? Sure they could.

It's all about value and there are may other choices out there that provide as good or better performance for much better price, regardless of "how they got there."

I quit buying it for my Colorado. Next-up will be the Quaker State QTorque Power label.

My Chevy S-10 has doubled it's consumption of Pennzoil Platinum - so I'm not going in the Platinum direction anymore. Next-up for the S-10 will be my two free OCIs of Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic.

the last mobil product i bought was the 5000, and that was only because of the rebate at the time.

i don't plan on buying any more any time soon, and defintely not mobil 1

Atta boy! I changed to this a couple of weeks back, then it hit single-digits around here this week. Car cranks and kicks over as easily as if it was 80. The QS TorquePower in the clear bottle is a wunnerfull oil.

That happens with some oils in some engines. Happened to the Subaru I had when I tried Redline for several oil change intervals. Gold GC seemed to burn slightly more in our G35 Coupe than Syntec 10w30. Go figure! I suspect it has to do with effect on valve seals and how much seaps past them into the combustion chambers. It certainly is not due to volatility.

Which one costs less to produce: at Group III or Group IV oil??

I'm into the third OCI of the original-suspected, pre-Nov 2005 Group V Platinum stock. Every OCI has seen an increase in comsumption & yes... my tuneups and PCvalve changes are current.

However, this is not intended as anything negative or a knock towards the "New & Improved Group III" Platinum upgrade since. I would of changed brands anyways - just to use-up all the free Valvoline Maxlife synthetic I have.
