The oil is still currently in service and I'm thinking of sampling again at 8k miles when the idiot light starts to blink. Oil filter is an M1 and the air filter was changed to an Amsoil Eaa at the same time.

The car sees a lot of short trips, but this sample was taken after a longer run.

What oil and filters were you previously running? Do you live really close to the ocean in San Diego and are/were you sucking in salt air with that huge Na number on your previous UOA? Looks like an improvement, but not across the board considering you're only at 4k vice 8k on the previous sample. My '05 CR-V has been fed a strict diet of M1 5w20 since it's first change and gets driven less than 5 miles at a time with a cold start almost every time (though we recently have done a few road trips with it for some easy highway miles which should help our next UOA) and I have no tin or lead showing up even with some fuel in the oil and running it for almost one full year. I'm using Purolator PureOne filters for both oil and air. You can see that UOA at Mobil 1 5w20, 4645 Mi, 2005 Honda CR-V

Prior fill was done at the dealership service center and presumed to have been Honda labeled 5W-20. While we live very coastal, I don't see the same Na issue in the BMW - https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/bmw-5w-30-7471-miles-1999-bmw-323i.100259/ The elevated levels are what me decide to put in the Eaa air filter. Hopefully, the lowering levels are an indication of improved filtration and they'll drop more in the next sample.

I've noted your UOA's before with great interest as we've got the same year with about the same mileage. I believe to some extent the current run is cleaning up the residuals from prior sins. In 20/20 hindsight, I should have been following the "severe" service schedule rather than the idiot light schedule with the Honda oil and filter. The current oil batch is only the 3rd ever in this engine (factory fill, 1 dealership change, current fill)

Check air intake for leaks and/or properly sealed air filter. A properly sealed paper filter is all you need for good si numbers. EAa should be even better. You're past breakin so I would want those si numbers down a bit. That being said 22 isn't that worrisome. However, Hondas tend to be the standard that other UOAs are measured against.

TBN of 3 is telling you not to push it much further. I had a TBN of 6 after 7500k km (approximately 4500 miles) with PP 5w30, so I plan on going 6k miles on this oci. TBN 3 would be my personal comfort level limit.

And sometimes putting a little bit of grease between the filter and air cleaner housing can be good if the fit between the 2 is less than perfect.
