Mobil 1 Advanced Clean formulation change

Mobil 1 just updated SDS on May 13th, and PAO is reduced from 10-15%, to pretty much nothing
Also, looks like viscosity @ 100C is slightly down and pour point is no longer -50

All the more reason to stay with Mobil ESP.

Understandable, I do think they should differentiate the Advanced clean better but we just don't know how or to what extent its cleaning capacity is.

Typically would agree, but it looks like the PAO was swapped for group II+. Not a good sign.

True statement, but eliminating PAO seems to be driven by cost or shortage issues. The oil was just released, and they already tweaking it.

Maybe they are making cuts in some labels to protect other labels. Looks like truck and suv changed to, maybe they are eliminating GTL in some labels to keep it in others. Possibly trimming PAO to use it in more importage products IDK totally just spitballing here.

You might find many other lube company's are scrambling in regard to base oil supply issues, and they might be looking at reformulations, just to MEET specifications, good idea to have a well stocked inventory ,like now.

Then why more expensive oils, such as Amsoil, use it? Mobil 1 racing oils are still mostly PAO

Advanced clean smells really mild and EP is a punch in the face strongest oil ive ever smelled, puts redline to shame (i am insane)

I haven't smelled Advanced Clean, but EP is not strong smelling oil. It's pretty mild to me.

EP GF-7 25,000 mile label is super strong. The SP/GF-6 version was pretty mild

I wouldn't worry about it. Either one will be inferior to Valvoline Restore and Protect. So if you're not running that, dealer's choice.
