Could be, but not necessarily. Those metallic elements can form more than sulfonates, phenats, or Salicylates.

Why EP? I think Truck & SUV is a better oil. I believe the MOG thinks the same. He used it, not EP, in a Battle Of The Premiums (my term) video versus Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, Red Line, AMSOIL Signature Series, LiquiMoly, Driven LS30, and other top oils.
Well Mobil 1 Truck and SUV is more shear stable, but it's not a 20k mile oil. That could mean it doesn't have the level of AO to hold off oxidation compared to EP.
My main question is, why would anyone use Mobil 1 Extended Performance when Mobil 1 Advanced Clean can clean and is good for 20k? I wonder if Mobil 1 Advanced Clean will become another Mobil 1 Annual Protection?
I really don't like what Mobil did to their line. Oh well...
XOM doesn't provide any testing videos etc. like they used to. It's as if they just stopped caring to promote their oils and are going strictly off their name at this point.
I plan to use Mobil 1 Advanced Clean at my next change in April. Will change to 5W-30. I am currently using Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W-20 at the moment.

I have the same questions. Seems Mobil 1 Extended Performance would become extinct if Mobil pushes AC.
Will do. I've already purchased the oil. Took advantage of the $15 cash back from Mobil 1/AAP. And got a free CarQuest P85394 oil filter too.

Ive given up on Mobil 1 Vanilla and now this...
Buy the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV, Mobil 1 ESP or Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage if your needing Mobil 1. Less is only more in a spouse that lost 25 lbs or those limited edition Porsches where they remove the radio and charge you more for the car.

The advertising on their website also claims that this oil “cleans your engine in one oil change” so that doesn’t sound like an oil meant only for new cars.
It's the base oil baby. According to the SDS, it is mostly GTL and PAO.
