Hey Erik -
If your looking at PP and thinking of Amsoil too, check out the XL line at ~$6 qt. Great UOAs, on both the PP and XL either way.

This is a 1 year oil change with 5,000 miles on the oil change and the second oil change .It is a fine uoa The M1 is fine.

If you were to look at Amsoil I'd look at the ASM 0w-20 or the SSO 0w-30. The XL is a good oil for 7500mi OCIs and can be had for under $5 if you are a preferred customer.

Amsoil is obviously not local though. If you want something you can pick up from a store I'd consider the PP. You may also want to consider German Castrol 5w-30. It's a hellava oil too.

That's a deal! Go with PP.

I wouldn't do an analysis at 3000 miles. You will still be getting residue from this analhysis in the oil. Do at least 3K on the oil you have in and then do at least 5 or 6 K miles with the PP..with a UOA. This is not a bad report for the 2nd change with a 10K mile car-seriously.

I would maybe make sure there are no air leaks between the filter and the intake manifold.

Al, thanks for that tip. It makes sense that this oil will have residue from the last batch. I'll skip the next UOA and do the following one.

And what's the easiest way to check for air leaks between the filter and intake? Spray some soapy water in the area and look for bubbles?

How can you get it that cheap? I looked today and can only find PP for 5.48. That makes it more than Amsoil XL and not far from the Group IVs. 5.48 doesn't seem like much of a deal.

I did. I don't see anything current unless I miss it. I never choose an item based upon its sale price. You never know how regularly you can find it for that.

Btw... GC is on sale at Autozone.
