Oil change at 10909 miles.
1500 miles since last oil change at the end of December of 2024.
Oil life monitor at 42%.
Oil sampled previously at 1083 miles. Sample only. No oil change.
Car not driven from last oil change to around early May.
Mostly uneventful highway driven at between 80 -100 mph.
Several 130+ mph runs for 10 minutes or so.
A few constants:
Oil viscosity at the low end for an SAE 50.
Fuel dilution at the rate of around 1% per 1000 miles.
Wear metals stable over the last 3 oil changes.

Looks to be a fine oil as long as OCI's are short enough. Fits the typical shear profile of a wide viscosity spread oil. Have you considered using the 15W-50 M1?

Just an interesting calculation. A C8 Z06, at a steady state 120MPH cruise is making 25.7% of its rated HP.

The reason I bring this up is that many people don't understand that supercars are not highly stressed at what most of us would consider absurd speeds. I've driven cars capable of 200MPH+. Such as the McLaren F1 and Ferrari Enzo. They could cruise at 165MPH, and accelerated hard from that speed. Truly amazing.

One has to consider that at an ambient temp of 80 degrees, my engine oil temperature typically runs around 170 degrees and maxes out at around 180 - even at sustained driving well above double nickels. The oil temp sensor is mounted in an oil gallery that is a short distance from the oil cooler and filter. It is a measure of the temperature of the oil delivered to the engine.

Nonetheless, I generally agree that using an oil with less VI improvers is benificial.

I can maintain a steady state 125-130 mph using about 1/4 throttle in 8th gear. At this speed, I can use any one of 5 gears from 4th to 8th.

I'm just wondering where in NY you are doing this with not many issues?

Depending on the area, there may not be much speed enforcement. When I lived on the east coast, I found the police very much stuck to consistent hiding spots and speed traps for years, if you knew where they wouldn't be, you could speed without much risk of infraction

I would not deviate from this oil. This oil has such low detergency and high ZDDP because of cam metallurgy and valvetrain design. It's bespoke for the Z06.

I didn't calculate the power but at 125 mph my diesel did about 25 mpg. So it's surprisingly low power needed. it xonsumed a fair bit more trying to get to 125 in a hurry.
