Comments from Blackstone:

Iron (from steel parts) improved considerably in this second sample from your Honda, and that's
really all we can ask for. Some of the extra metal is due to the longer than average interval, though we'll
likely see more improvement in the next sample even if you run the oil longer. All other metals read normally
and the TBN was strong at 3.3, so we don't see any reason why you can't shoot for around 10,000 miles on
the next oil if you like. Your Civic's 1.7L engine appears to be doing just fine at 85,387 miles. Nice
improvement.

OOPS, copy paste error, I fixed it.

Note unit miles and sample dates.

The Civic has been on M1 since about 24,000 miles. These reports are the first and second UOA's done.

The Acura has been on Mobil 1 since 127,000 and these are the first and second UOA's on it as well. It has been in the family since new and been dealer serviced with Syntec Blend and BGMOA prior.

Can't seem to edit the tread title on this one, this is the latest on the Civic: 85,387 miles

Nice to see the iron come down, good levels now.

Will be interesting to see how the M1 5w20 SN works. This is the SM formulation so keep in mind there is a way different additive pack in the new formula. Maybe better.

Yeah the SM stuff was kind of showing it's age. So far the SN looks good as far as UOA's go. I'm interested in how long the EP can last with only a 9-10 Tbn and how clean it will keep the engine with the new additive system they are using. Hopefully it will be as good as the high level calcium.

I took a look at the remaining bottle (it takes 3.75QT)and it is SM, not only that but I recall that for one of these cars some of the bottles were the older square style (I had a lot of oil sitting around) and I save the remaining .25 qt to make the .75 every 3 changes so I suppose its possible that that some of the oil is older.

That said, I will pick up 4 quarts of SN for the next change coming up and make sure to get the "new" formula. I'm also considering M1 EP along with a 10,000 change interval.

I did some searching on Mobil 1 SN and didn't come up with any specifics on the new additive package, so if someone could point me to a thread (also Extended Performance related to standard M1) I would be greatly appreciative.

I will post the current fill (still SM) after the change.

The only difference I've seen so far, just an observation, is the Fe levels are lower with the SN. Viscosity is solid and Tbn retention is good too. Starting Tbn is 8-9.5. It's lower now due to the lower Calcium levels.
