Mobil 1 10w30

lookin to put Mobil 1 10w30 in my 93 gmc safari van next oci.
Currently got 270,000kilometers on it ,its my every day service van,mainly highway driven about 500km/week (regular oci every 2 months with val Hm 5-30.Burns alittle on start up,ususally only have to put in about half litre top up every oci.
my question is will mobil 1 burn more? im thinking it wont since its a High Mileage oil.i plan to leave it in for maybe.....10 thousand? only becuase im on the highway 90 percent of the time.what do you guys think?

will not burn but will escape if the engine is lose, so it will still consume some oil. Take alook at Amsoil as your choice, customer service and their products are much better...

Highway miles would be easier on oil so you could extend it out sure,try the 10/30HM or the 10/40HM,reasonably priced and easy to get from walmart.

It actually is the Mobil 1 High Mileage, some one gave it to me for nothing 4.5L worth, so I wanna use it for some thing, so i figure what the heck.

Oil consumption sometimes spikes when you switch oils, but then it settles down after a few oil changes. That's one of the reasons why it's best to stick with one oil if you can. In the long run, Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 will probably be pretty good in terms of consumption.

That said, if you're already using a high mileage oil, you might not see much of a difference. Half a liter every OCI really isn't much, even if your OCIs are short.

There High Mileage oil's are fine oil's,well built with a nice add pack,use it it'll work great in your application.

Mobil 1 10w30 High Mileage will do great. it is about 12cSt at 100 C so its on the heavier side of 30 weight and the additive pack is strong. Im not sure exactly what engine is in your old gm but many of them had valve stem seal issues that would cause a little puff of smoke upon startup. High Mileage oil is probably a good fit. Just keep an eye on consumption becuase the change of an oil brand can sometimes lead to a little more consumption at first.

Find a 10w30 w/ low Noack Volatility #s which, 'measures Evaporation when oil gets hot, causing high oil consumption and emissions'.

My safari has the 4.3L engine from what ive read its the old 350 minus 2 cylinders. will using Mobil 1 High Mileage negate any benifits that ive aquired from using valvoline HM?

Amsoil buys some, but not all, of it's PAO from Exxon Mobil.

FWIW, Mobil 1 10W30 is only sold in the HM formula in Canada. The reg Mobil 1 10W30 is not found anymore, except maybe at an oil distributor, or by special order. I guess they figure 10W30 synthetic is obsolete anyways, except for older vehicles.

I used Mobil 1 synthetic in my 89' Camry since bought new and can tell you before I gave it to my mom it NEVER consumed any oil what so ever! After she passed away I inheritated back the car and began to use M1 again. Once that happened I did start to burn a quart about every other month and leaked a little but after about a couple OCI's it stopped. With 250K on it and ready for another OCI it was running pretty good and still no oil concumption at all. I'd say if your keeping your OCI to the published book then M1 "extended" won't be necessary unless you want to. Since I live in California the 10w30 was
the right oil weight to use for an 89.

Thank you to those who responded. I appreciate your in put but I didnt mean to start world war three among some of you. Ive learned alot here past couple months reading through all the catagories, but it looks like things around here get volitile and heated up, not just the oil.
