Dropped by Walmart yesterday and noticed that all the 5-qt jugs of Mobil 1 10w30 are back to being labeled pre-Katrina now. Single quart bottles of 5w20 were also with "donut" label.

All others are still "suitable..."

It's been that way 'round here for the las couple weeks. Hopefully the 5w30 w/ donut will be in stock in time for my next oc or else it's PP for me. WW has the 5w30 and 10w30 in the PP for $20 a five qt. jug.

My local auto store has an ample supply of Mobil 1 5W-20 with starburst and donut merrily proclaiming they are in compliance with pre-Katrina specifications.

I picked up a box of 6 quarts of it a few weeks ago and they now reside in my crankcase.

Sadly, the 5w30 still says "suitable for....."

So, Mustang_Cougar, other than that, how's your motor running? Consider your experience a charitable act of urban renewal for the city of Baltimore - you may qualify for a one-time tax credit in the state of Maryland. Who knows? The State might even erect a statue in your honor. (But, if you're given a choice, take the bucks - having your likeness functioning as a depository for bird droppings or a target of opportunity for stray dogs is a dubious honor, at best.)

"Why "Sadly"? Are you inferring users have sustained actual damage to their motors with post-Katrina 5w30 Mobil 1?"

Absolutely!

My personal experience with non-donut Mobil 1 was a disaster: Not only did my engine explode while at a stoplight, but a group of orphans standing on the corner caught on fire and ran haphazardly down the street, starting little infernos as they went. The entire city of Baltimore is pretty much on fire right now...but I'm blaming it on the cow and that's my story.

Goshdamn you hurricane oil!

Just as long as it was on the west side! They could use some serious slash and burn over there.

I spent last Saturday touring town/row homes for rehab in Patterson Park and Canton.

Maybe someone could point to an Amsoil dealer in the area....
