Congratulations! Now that looks like the 4.7L we all know and love. Regarding the 5W-40, I don't see the need unless you are fighting consumption. It will only cost you fuel mileage.

Tones,

Thanks for the reply. I am not having any consumption issues. I don't think it used any oil over the last 10k miles. Only what I took out for the UOA. I was just looking for the best bang for the buck in synthetic oil.

I would stick with the Amsoil ASL & Amsoil EAO Oil Filter.

Which Air Filter are you running? If not, may I suggest an Amsoil EAA Air Filter?

Looks better, man!

tpitcher,

I used a Toyota air filter. I don't think amsoil makes an eaa filter for my truck.

Thanks,

Ken

Chinee got excellent results on his 4.7 V8 with Mobil 7500 synth blend. That is what I will try next, if I can find it.

I've always thought Synpower was underappreciated. Pennzoil Platinum might be a good option too.

I bet it has nothing to do with the oil. It's probably dirt getting thru.

What is wrong with the oil.though it prolly could be better as most everything could be.

The suckiness lies in your analysis and dirt in his engine, not the oil. There are people honestly trying to learn how to properly interpret UOAs here so the last thing we need are silly biased comments like yours.

Yeah, if Exxon had enough money laying around they should have sent a guy out to fix my vacuum leak that caused the poor results!

I would try Pennzoil Platinum, price is good and most UOAs have been great, but only if you want to make a change. The Mobil 1 is working fine. If you switch to another brand, stick with it for two ocis and do the UOA on the second oci as this will give a truer comparison to M1.

First find the source of the air intake leak that is bypassing the air filter. If the air filter needs replaceing replace it!! Second how long was this oil in the engine????Milage does not mean much to this engine in terms of oils protective ability but these engine do not like an oil change interval longer then 6-9 months depending on usage!!!! You could probably run TropArtic oil from walmart at $1.68 a quart and change ever 6 months and be just fine once the filtration is fixed. The railer towing is not an issue the short trips though are loading your oil with fuel. These engines run a bit rich anyways from my personel experince.

John,

I did find and fix the intake leak. Did you see the second oil analysis?

Thanks,

Ken
