Oil selection sure makes a difference in the 2.4L in our Honda. Mobil 1 0W-20 has been, by a significant margin, the smoothest and quietest 0W-20 I've used in it. I've also used Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W-20 and Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 and weren't happy with either one of those in our K24. Mobil 1 seems to run the best in it. I have Mobil 1 0w30 in it now, but will go back to Mobil 1 0W-20 at the next oil change. With the excellent value that is Mobil 1 ($22 at Walmart), I can't find a reason in the world to use anything else...especially if you're tied to 0W-20 as you are in a new model.
Were the Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability louder or did they just not give as good performance? My Accord has the new DI 4cyl so do you think that will make a difference in anything? I know fuel dilution could possibly be an issue, so will be watching that. Also, I read that Honda has remedied the carbon deposit buildup problem that other DI motors have problems with. Any truth that you know of?

I changed FF at 10,XXX (OLM = 15%) to Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 and Filtech/Honda filter. Car runs great, in fact my computer is showing 35mpg average over the 7,XXX miles on this OCI.
I've got a Blackstone kit on my desk for this next oil change which will be sometime in June at 10,XXX miles. I'll be sure to post the report so we can look at wear, TBN and fuel dilution.
Looking forward to seeing how that UAO turns out! I really like this engine so far. It's pretty quick (in family car terms) and last week on a 700 mile road trip I averaged 36.2 mpg.

Also long drains are not something you'd want to consider while under warranty.
The other Japanese OEM 0W-20 oils such as the Mobil made TGMO 0W-20 and the new Mazda High Moly 0W-20 I would choose over Mobil 1 price notwithstanding.
Please excuse my ignorance, but is the OEM Honda 0w-20 synthetic? I will be following the MM on my Honda which should probably put me around 6k-8k miles per oil change.
