While I could believe a small increase due tot he first 20 minutes of driveing beyound that though at operateing temp their is very little difference between a 0W30 and an SAE30. Granted all of M1 30Wt.'s are thin but even then not going to see that large of a difference.Too many variables that you are not accounting for. Too big of a difference. Espcialy when so many other people can go from a 5W20 to a 5W40 and not notice any difference in MPG. So while I am I glad you spent less in gas I am not believeing tht you had a 1/2 gallon difference in fuel consumed just by changeing oil from SAE30 to 0W30!

Under the most controlled conditions possible it's been shown fuel efficiency can improve up to 2% with some oils. Anything more is unlikely.

The FACT is that you'll save more money by cutting out needless trips than by switching to a lower viscosity.

As buster said, 2% is about the best proven improvement. Anything more is unlikely...the definition of unlikely is: the same as the difference between Slim and None, with Slim having left town.

It gets pretty hot here in the summer that's why sometimes I use SAE 30. Not Texas hot but hot, nonetheless.

Why can't we call the OP's contention what it is: One more hideously uninformed, but truly false and biased opinion, not to mention an impossibility that is so obvious, to state it anyway constitutes a lie??

Why anyone would take up a discussion over (t)his stuff, I'll never know.
