Just started using the 0-30 by Mobil1. Engine seems to run smoother. Anyone using this grade done an oil analysis?

Did you search in the UOA section? I'm sure someone has...

Here are two for starters...

Toyota Tundra V8 on M1 0W30

Ranger 3.0L, 12.5k miles on M1

What are you driving? Are you still driving that 05 Volvo? What are your goals for your oil? Mobil1 makes good oils, a little over priced, but worth it if you sleep better at night. You should have zero trouble with that oil.

Oh, and Welcome to BITOG if you haven't been welcomed yet!

Yes, I am using 0W/30 weight of oil in my wife's car as this is the nearly the only oil weight available which carries the manufacturer's recommendation, GM's LL-A-025 spec.

No, I have not done an oil analysis yet.

No, I am not using this weight in the Mobil-1 brand. Mobil-1's 0W/40 carries the LL-A-025 approval and is nearly as thin as other manufacturer's 0W/30 weights which meets this spec.

Mobil-1 in 0W/30 may be very close to a 20 weight in viscosity.

According to Mobil's website, the 0W30 is 11.0 cSt at 100 degC. That's a solid 30wt. It may shear down though. The M1 5W30 sheared in my Kia to a 20wt in 7k miles though.

I'm using it in my 2008 2.7L 4-cly. US calls for 5W-20 or 0W-20, but between Texas heat and New Mexico's mountains, not to mention the speeds we travel in the rural West, I just feel better with 30 weight on the upper end. Also, Australia's Castrol and Mobil websites both state the use of 5W-30 and other, heavier grades in the idential 2.7L engines in the Hi-Ace and Hi-Lux vehicles. I think if it's (30-wt.) approved in other nations for any particular engine, any mfg. would find it hard to deny a warranty claim for an engine failure...that is, if you were dumb enough to 'volunteer' that you'd been using other than a 20 wt. All our other vehicles use Mobil-1 or Delvac-1 is my real reason for choosing the Mobil-1 version of the oW-30.
