It would have been nice to see a UOA on this oil. You could have determined how far you actually pushed this OCI.

Yes and no. Probably hope they will sell more oil - but also more likely butt coverage given the variables in just how often people will do short trips - never actually getting the oil warm....I can easily imagine someone doing this 200+ times per year and yet only having 2000 miles on the oil.


This is an interesting thread for me, as while I don't get to start my car 200+ times a year, short trips make up a good chunk of my driving (Honda S2000), and total miles are less than 2000 miles a year. Despite my car having an OLM, the manual still calls for changing once a year in the event the monitor fails to reach 0% (and mine hasn't come close).

I've tended to view the annual cost of an oil change to be a reasonable price to pay for piece of mind, but it seems that I could probably get away with a longer change interval. Though, until my powertrain warranty is up, I should probably stick to the manual's recommendation, no?
