Well that's right near the limit at 22%. I would personally step up a grade, like a 5w40. Or use 30 weight and sub 1 or 2 of the quarts w/ 40 weight. Just my opinion.
What you mentioned is kinda what I was thinking about doing. Only thing is the oil I want to use on my next oil change is Pennzoil Ultra. And I wouldnt really want to use a quart of 40 weight since Ultra does not have that weight. But....ill just have to suck it up and use a quart of Pennzoil High Mileage.
Why not just run a pint if you're really worried? Then at the end of the OCI, the last 500-1000 miles add another pint of MMO. As far as Pennzoil High Mileage you could use a qt of that to thicken the mix up a bit, and/or run a full qt of MMO during the winter if you live in a cold place.
You can also use 20-24 ounces of MMO for the sake of argument. That will drop the % down a bit. JMO
Yeah, 1qt of 40weight would be good. Or as demarpaint suggested, you can use 16oz. initially and then another 16oz. before the oil change. This way you wouldn't have to worry really about thinning. But your plan of using a qt of Pennzoil High Mileage is good also.
