I seem to recall reading somewhere on here that a good home-brew fuel addative for cleaning and lube, is to mix mmo and auto-transmission fluid in with the gas. (somewhere around 0.5oz of each per gallon of fuel)... I searched back aways and didn't find it, does this ring a bell with anyone?
Is it a good idea? does this homebrew idea even exsist?
I've been using mmo religiously for about a month now (~2000 miles)(it's a new religion, but i've taken to it well). started with a "shock" dose and have pretty much been sticking close to the recomended dose since then. Bought a 1 gallon jug of it at Walmart that I am using to refill the 32oz size bottle (has measurements on the side). I haven't really noticed anything- but after doing a seafoam cleaning on my intake it seemed like a good idea to start running something that would keep deposits under control. On an engine with 175k on it, anything I can do at this point to keep it going for a reasonable price seems worth a shot...
Then the other day as I was pulling my mmo out of the "box" in the back, my eye cought a bottle of Dexron that has sat in there for about 6 months. I bought it with the intention of having it on hand if my power steering ever got low, and it never has, so now i've got this Dexron lookin me in the face. and the question pops to mind- maybe I should put it in the tank?
