This ought to be fun...

I have a 2.5 gas can to which I add Sta-Bil and 1oz of MMO. Use it for lawn mower, power washer, leaf vac,...

My 1 gal can used for 2 cycle is nearly empty. I run a 40:1 for the 2 cycle

I would like to use the gas from the 2.5 container and mix a new batch of 2 cycle in the 1 gal container...if for no other reason that to "rotate stock".

Should I offset the 3.2 oz of 2 cycle to accommodate the MMO?

With a 300:1 MMO ratio in the 2.5 gal can, does it even matter?

costs too much.

5-6$ a quart when I need gallons

I do believe in using it before storing equipment.

Do not reduce the amount of 2cyl oil just because you have a little MMO in there, you're only going to hurt your engine with less lubrication. MMO is much thinner viscosity than any 2cyl oil you would ever use, so just on that alone there is no way it would protect as well. I'd run 32:1 2cyl oil minimum period, and if you had even 1 oz MMO in there per gallon it wouldn't hurt anything as long as you have 92+ octane gas, pref no ethanol.

Darkfire

Why the 32:1? Chainsaw calls for 40:1 and Echo weed whacker and blower cal for 50:1

I was reviewing a post the other day about these mixtures which, admittedly I did not fully understand, and a number of folks said what you're saying: 32:1 or even 24:1

Forgot the MMO for now...

Why so heavy on the oil?
Won't this smoke like crazy?
Is there a benefit to such a heavier mixture?

And why the 92 octane? Further benefits...?

Perfectly OK. I do similar things all the time. The MMO is in such low concentration it won't matter, and the stabil is also just a tiny fraction of the fuel.

Way too expensive at $20+ per gallon. And if you use your equipment regularly it has no benefit. It's good for storage though.

I'd just mix it like always and ignore the extra StaBil and MMO.

32,24,&16:1 is from the dark ages of mixing with 30W, and before needle bearings and nikasil (chrome) cylinders. I use 40:1 for a safety margin, but 50:1 would be fine too.

While I would agree with you for OPE, and outboards, (many of which have cast iron bores btw) . There are a large number of applications that will experience more rapid engine wear with less oil. In our testing, wear rates increased in outboards at 50 to 1, and by 100 to 1 wear rates were quite significant. Regardless of oil chosen.

32 to 1 is the ratio that provides 100% of the possible wear protection in conventional engines. Bore surface and ring face materials don't matter much.

Kart racers will regularly use 20 to 1, as less oil results in rapid engine wear and early, sometimes catastrophic, failure.

I use 32 to 1 in everything.

I generally base my oil ratio on the type of oil, not the equipment. Basically I run 32:1 with conventional/40:1 with a semi-synthetic blend/50:1 with a full synthetic. I don't go any higher than 50:1. Call me old fashion, but that's all the oil that motor gets and I don't mind the smoke. Ive never lost a engine yet, and I run them hard, like a two stroke was meant to be run.

I have a question about this premix fuel being good for storage. What benefits would I get from running this expensive product before I store my engine? I have found in my experience what is good for storage is running the engine out of gas and hanging it up. Ryobi weed trimmer actually. It has a tendency to gum up when fuel is left in the engine. I got tired of scraping the exhaust port and spark plug so every week last summner I just poured whatever gas back in the can and ran it out. Seems to start easier than when the gas was just left in the tank. Also I would like to recommend seafoam to everyone, I'm sure you all have your preferences. I like it in the gas or use a small spray bottle to mist it through the intake with the engine running. It's alot cheaper than the seafoam spray.

My 2 stroke stuff runs on a rich 32:1 mix of brand X mix oil. Been doing it for 35 yrs with my Farmboss. It is specced at 40:1, the weed wacker is 50 :1 and the mower is 32:1. I will add a cap of MMO to each fillup 87 E 10 gas and mix oil. I dont store the 2 strokes, the oil takes care of stuff. I don't foul plugs or exhaust ports, because I run the stuff full bore. Yah, they smoke until they warm up. Whoop dee doo
