It might come to shock some of you guys, but I got no brand loyalty. I get what ever I see in Walmart on sale or when I need it. I try to stick to VP 2stroke oil, but sometimes I try different things.
So I had some of that Walmart black max oil that I'm finishing up and only has enough to mix 1 gallon. I usually mix a two gallon can that will last me a while. Instead of just mixing 1 gallon I added Evinrude XDS XD50 (synthetic blend outboard 2 stroke oil) to make up 2 gallons. Walmart had them on clearance for $7 a quart and I got 3 quarts. Ran a tank of new mix on my BR800, and while blowing the leaves I had time to wonder. Does it make much of the difference mixing two "different" type of oils? After about solid 2 hours of WOT it didn't blow up. I want to say it kind of ran smooth. Maybe because of fresh fuel? But both black max and Evinrude are synthetic blends.
Would you run that in your OPE?
