Mixing Rotella and non HDEO

I'm switching my wife's Golf over to T6 and so long as everything goes okay, it'll remain on a steady diet of T6. I know its not a 502 spec or even A3 rated but based on what has been discussed on here particularly with VW/Audi owners, its a good oil for the application (and would likely pass 502 if Rotella tested it against that spec).

At issue is that T6 only comes in 4qt containers. I need ~4 1/4 for her car. I've got a bottle and a half of Castrol 5w40 leftover that I have been putting in her car. Would anyone see an issue with mixing in 1/4qt of the Castrol with the 4qts of T6? While the Castrol isn't an HDEO, it is CF rated.

Also for the winter months I'm considering Maxlife Synthetic 5w30 since its one of the few A3 rated oils that aren't a 40wt that I can get around here (GC is nowhere to be found). Would there be any issues using Maxlife in a car with only 23,000mi. My chief concern is the seal conditioning agents and their effect on an engine with so few miles.

I just bought a qt of T6 5w40 at Walmart in Phoenix the other day for my Gf's golf 2.0 8V that im driving on a trip.

Why not just leave it a 1/4 quart low? Or buy 3 gallons. One for this and the next OCI ..and the top up for both.

While the 5w30 would be nice in the winter, there's no reason not to use the T6 year round.

Realize I'm remote viewing here. If she can use 5w-40 normally, yet you feel compelled to swap out for the winter, the annual mileage should be a decent amount. If that's so, then starting or lower temp visc is not the big deal on your total operational radar. If it's lower mileage, then RTS is kinda a waste, even at the price it's available at. I'd then opt for the conventional 15w40 for 8 months and use your 5w30 for the winter.

I'll go one better. I mix 3 qts. Rotella dino and 1 qt. MMO in my Toyota Crummy.
