I have been enjoying cooking french fries in a skillet with corn oil lately. I tried canola oil but it didnt taste as good. Now I am getting bogged down from the corn oil.

Can I mix canola oil with corn oil? I am pretty such the house wont catch afire, but do you think I could get a french fry that is to my liking?

Sunflower oil...

Oil is oil, like mixing 5w30 with 10W-40....

Just be careful mixing low smoke point oil with high smoke point,
the oil may not smoke very much before flashing (fire!)...

Get a thermometer and keep the temp below 375, around 350 is the usual cooking temp...
Oil burns at around 400+, depends on the type...

My wife brought home a bottle of canola oil because it was on sale, and it immediately went in the trash.

This. This is the best for fries. Sunflower oil would be my 2nd choice.

It's mind boggling that you can have utter garbage like canola oil and also amazing oil like rapeseed oil from the same plant. Canola oil being produced from GMO plants through solvents and stuff and rapeseed oil from normal plants through cold press.

But that's always the case when you introduce industrialized methods for mass production of food.

I just purchased a bottle of olive oil labeled Extra Virgin but discovered it was 10% Olive oil and 90% Sunflower oil when reading the small print on the back of the bottle .

Not a good taste for pasta !

I will try this oil on some fries to see if it has any use before I discard it .
