Hello all
Decided to change out the PS fluid on some of our cars since I have no idea when it was last done. The two I was looking at doing were a 2003 Mazda 323 (Protege in the US) and a 1994 121. Manuals for both of these claim that they take Mazda MIII or equivalent (such as DexIII) so I purchased 4L bottle of Shell Spirax MD3 which is a DexIII fluid. Something I didn't think of beforehand was that I was probably going to use the drain/refill method which won't get 100% of the old fluid out and I have no idea what fluid is already in there, however it is probably the same fluid they, left the factory with.
Although it's a bit vaugue because I don't know what's already in there, my question is should the Spirax react in some way with the small amount of old fluid assuming it's Mazda MIII? I don't mind using up a lot of the new fluid to ensure most of the old stuff is out since it was cheap-ish, and if need be I can do a line disconect to try get even more out.
Cheers
