mixing brands

Hey guys, I know that this is probably a pretty ignorant questions but....

If a person has serval bottles of the same weight oil but different brands, would it hurt to mix them all together for an oci?

Or for example, If I have a vehicle that takes 5.5 quarts of oil and I run say 5 quarts of xWx Havoline and put in a half of quart of Castrol or Mobil, would it hurt? I'm trying to get rid of some of my oil collection.

You can mix and match whatever oil you want. I wouldn't do it often and or extend drains with this practice however. Try and keep the chemistries the same.
