Mixing brands

Bad idea?

Wife has a 94 ford ranger. 3.0 v6.

I have some conventional oil sitting around that I'd like to get rid of. Quart of this quart of that. Quaker state high mileage, regular, valvoline, and some havoline.

It's all the same weight. Is mixing this stuff a serious no-no?

I have a mix of oils in my moms car that is running great.

1 quart of Mobil 1 10w30 Extended Performance, 1 quart Mobil 1 10w30, 1 quart Quaker State Torque Power 5w30, 1 quart Super Tech 5w30 synthetic, 1 quart Valvoline SynPower 5w30 synthetic, and 1 quart Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend

All of them were leftovers, except the Torque power. I just used that to get to 6 quarts.

I wouldn't try to do an extended interval but in my opinion for a regular OCI you should be fine.

Cool thanks guys. We're only looking to keep it in there for the usual 3000 miles, 6 months, whichever comes first.

The mixing of the oil won't hurt, especially on the bulletproof 3.0 Ford. Use it and enjoy the money you saved by not buying another 4 quarts of oil to match what you already have.
