mixing 2 stroke oil

I wanna mix some gas for a Toro s200 snowblower that was given to me and it calls for a 32:1 mixture. I have some old Echo Premium EPA 50:1 oil in 5.2oz bottles, meant for 2gals of gas, I found in my dads garage when we cleaned it out a couple years ago. I think the stuff is atleast 5 or 6 yrs old. Anyways, how much of this do I need to make a 32:1 mixture with 2 gals. Of gas? A formula I found online says to take my gallons of gas x 128 / the desired mixture. So if it is right, I come up with 2 x 128 / 32 equals 8oz. Is this right?

FYI , echos new oil says you can run it 50:1 in all two stroke engines. That is their claim. They must be pretty confident recommending their oil at 50:1 for older equipment. I would have no trouble running it at at least 40:1 myself.

It's even worse than that! A US gallon is not the same as a UK (or Imperial) gallon. It's better now that Canada has gone metric, but years ago they used the UK gallon. You had to be careful comparing measurements from the US to Canada.

Example:
Imperial Gallon = 4.5 liters
US Gallon = 3.79 liters

I can't wait until we go all metric.
 
we are all surprised you didn't cut the dollar the same way. Like 13 chips to a dollar, 11 dollars to a bigun, 9 biguns to a fathom and 11 fathoms to a grand.
The fathom would the definition of "not quite 100" at 99.

4 ounces per gallon is 32 to 1.

By the way, that 32 to 1 ratio has been proven to be capable of protecting nearly every two stroke engine. With the possible exception of very highly tuned Kart engines, 125cc making 50+ HP.

I know oil manufacturers want to push 2 stroke oil ratio's to 50 to 1 or even 100 to 1. Keep in mind, testing has repeatedly proven that's not ideal from a lifespan or HP related point of view.

+1 My toro calls for 40:1 and I run 32:1. It actually runs best with plain old blue Valvoline conventional 2 cycle oil at 32:1 in fact I just keep a 3 gal can of 32:1 and run that in all of my 2 cycle OPE.

You are not doing your equipment any favors running more oil than called for by the manufacturer. More oil equals more carbon, which destroys cylinders and lowers compression.

Running top quality like Stihl, Echo, Amsoil oil 50:1 in all 2 stroke equipment (chainsaws, trimmers, blowers) will improve their lifespan over 16:1, 32:1 ratios.

While the type of oil chosen does affect carbon buildup in the combustion chamber and in the exhaust, the carbon buildup situation is often counter intuitive. In other words, the use of more oil often results in fewer hard carbon deposits in all areas.

Our racing engines run at 16 to 1 were often completely carbon free! Contrast that to guys running 100 to 1, with very hard carbon deposits, less power and more wear.

Some interesting quotes from the above test: "I would never use Amsoil100:1 mixed at 100:1. There is no decrease of carbon formation and I noticed an increase of piston scuffing on the test engine"

did you see the old article that they did oil ratio tests on an air cooled suzuki engine? I agree with more oil and less fouling. but with small engines If you mix too rich, they runn lean and [censored]. i just run 32-1 with diaphragm carbs. you also need more oil for a smaller engine and one that runs harder and higher revs.
