Mityvac 7400 & synthetic oil

I was about to order a Mityvac 7400 from Amazon and I hesitated after reading some of the reviews. Most of the reviews are 4 and 5 stars, but a couple people reported failures after using the unit with synthetic oil. They stated that the seals in the pump failed after using it with synthetic and that customer service at Mityvac said that this can occur with some synthetics.

I use MC synthetic blend in all of my vehicles and Amsoil in my small engines.

so has anyone used the Mityvac with synthetic? Any leakage problems?

I'm a little confused here.... I'm certainly not gonna argue with failures, especially since Mityvac admits there may be a problem - but the actual pump mechanism should only be pumping air, as they work by creating a vacuum. so.... why would the fluid type matter?

I dont have a mityvac, but I do have a Tempo - and it looks identical. I've used it for several years with Amsoil 15w40 and transmission fluid with no problems

I've had the 7400 for close to 3 years and have evacuated nothing but synthetic oil with it. No problems so far.

I have had the Mityvac 7201 for about 5 years and it's sucked about 40 Gallons of GC, Mobil 1 0w-40, HDEO, PZYB, Trans fluid, Supertech, and everything in between. No problems at all.

Just used it tonight to do a friend's 2007 Civic. It is supposed to take 3.7qts with filter. Mityvac pulled out 4.0L and there was another .2L in the can.

Great tool. Great investment in convenience.

You might appreciate the extra features in the 7201 and I think it holds 8L.

I have 7201 since 2004 and used it to extract oil, ATF, brake fluid from master cylinder for 3 cars. My brother-in-law used it for changing oil in his cars too without any leak until early this year. After I tighten 6-7 screws at the top of the pump, the small leak stop.
