Mitsubishi says that there is no oil like their Diaqueen ....

Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal is suitable for use where Dia Queen CVTF-J4 fluid is specified.

However, Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal is not approved by Mitsubishi.

This is when YOU become a ping-pong ball for you have to fight Mitsubishi & Castrol's claims and then the refrain....it's a Mitsubishi problem no it's Castrol's etc

Sorry if I missed it in here but Mitsubishi as far as I am aware has always used Jatco CVTs. Jatco CVTs regardless of the make and model vehicle they are in have proven over and over to work perfectly with suitable for use aftermarket CVT fluids.

So does Mitsubishi say it's mandatory in writing?
Thats what they said here :
Can I use let say valvoline, castrol, idemitsu eneos or else meeting CVTF J4 in my Outlander ? Here is what their representative respond to that :

Many analyzes were carried out at our expense by national specialists (including the company Wear Check). We provided them with the parameters of our product in order to have a scale against which there could be a chemical comparison; none of the products offered as "compatible" products has so far met all of the minimum standards referred to in such a benchmarking (minimum set baseline)

Thank you for your reply. Please be advised that when the transmission fails for reasons other than the constitution / performance of the transmission oil, we cover the replacement / repair.

When the failure is related to the performance of the oil, its viscosity, or its overheating, we examine the oil in question. In addition, some of these products sell for more and also have no benefits.

I hope this can help in understanding our process.

That looks like mandatory to me :-)

So are they going to furnish the product?

Mitsubishi doesn't even make their own CVT transmissions they just buy them from Jatco. It's standard operating procedure for the Japanese automakers to not license their fluids and say you must buy their fluid even when they're using third party equipment like Jatco or Aisin transmissions that are used in many makes with many different fluids. You'll be fine with the aftermarket fluid, but Mitsubishi wants to drum up business for their dealers so they will never in a million years admit that to you.

That doesn't mean that they can't require a certain fluid regardless of who makes it.
