Mini 10,000 Mile Oil change

I test drove a 2015 BMW Mini with the turbo. I went into the shop to check the oil info and was told that
I should bring it at 10,000 miles. They said "we use Castrol Oil, it is a special oil from Germany." What say you?
That car requires a load of expensive maintenance at around 100,000. Beware, fun car, but beware.

Is it the turbo 3?

  • For the MINI Cooper F-Type models with a three-cylinder engine manufactured from 2014 onwards MINI recommends a High-Performance SAE 0W-20 engine oil that provides superior protection and performance for three-cylinder engines and meets the BMW Longlife-01 FE or BMW Longlife-01 specification.

Tell us you don't know what you talking about, without telling us that you don't know what you talking about!
LL01: 0W30, 5W30, 0W40 and 5W40, min HTHS 3.5cP (THIS OIL is what OP should use!).
LL01FE: 0w30 or 5W30, min HTHS 3.0cP (FE: Fuel Efficiency).

0W20 in BMW oil approvals is LL14FE or LL17FE.

10k miles is nothing for a normal daily driver, most on BOTIG got to much time for oil changes and just do it for the fun of it.
I do 5000km oil changes because i want to but i will never tell anyone else to do it. The oil comes out more or less new when i do a oil change. 10000 miles is nothing for a modern oil.
Most modern good and stable synth oils would probably do 40km easy today. We change oils at 1k hours at work on volvo machines which is around 40 000 km converted and the oil is just a basic semi synth 10W-30 and we have no engine failures.
you remind me of a guy in a forum that was claiming that he had never had an OCI for 250.000 km in his car ,just filling and it was OK` !!

Castrol products currently have a lot of shelf space at Canadian Tire. Here are some of the products. Castrol Edge European Formula 0w30 made in Belgium.

Very old bottles on the 0W-30. Label changed in 2021… not an issue just an observation. They must not sell much of this stuff.
The photo was of a one liter bottle, spelled 1 litre and had additional required French printing, signifying it was manufactured for sale in Canada and not the USA. The container print mentions it was repackaged in the USA.

I would think this product sat in a Wakefield warehouse in Toronto. I don’t think Canadian Tire would keep this product in its own warehouse as they have a “just in time” supply chain.

Someone must have either over-ordered a supply of empty bottles in the USA or they actually filled the bottles three years ago and the product was sitting in a warehouse in Canada or the USA if the bottle design is indeed three years old. Also possible is the volume of the product was low enough that they didn’t change the bottle design for Canada when they changed the USA design.

what the laughs all about? if you laugh with edyvw's answer then you dont seem to respect the respectable expertise members opinion ,so why you chose this forum?
Here is a one quart bottle with US markings and new bottle design. Maybe it’s the watered down stuff. ;)
