About to get a used 2008 Mini Cooper S with the Peugot/BMW direct injection turbo engine. Mini specs ACEA A3/B3 5w30 and has very long oil change intervals due to the oil service light similar to BMW. I have cases of Schaeffer Supreme 7000 5w30 semi synthetic. Schaeffer specs it as meeting ACEA A5-02, whatever that means. I checked ACEA and it appears Schaeffer left out the B coding before the 02. Is this stuff suitable for the Mini? I do not plan to leave it as long as the service light determines. I still get free oil changes from MINI, but have to drive half an hour to get to the dealer! Ugh!

If it specs A3/B3 then I would say no it does not. You might try to contact Mark (salesrep) to be sure.
Here is the tech sheet on the Schaeffer's 5w30. HTHS is 3.1 and I think at a minimum HTHS for an A3/B3 oil is 3.5
A3/B3 also wants a minimum TBN of 8.0 and the Schaeffer's is 7.5

You should check the 9000 5w30, it may be a bit higher on the HT/HS.
As a "euro" car, does the cooper allow 5w-40 oils? I run schaeffer's 5w-40 9000 series in all our cars now.

The 9000 5w30 has a lower TBN than the 7000 series and the HTHS is the same. Even though the 9000 5W-40 does not say it meets A3/B3, the numbers show it does with an HTHS of 4.5 and a TBN of 10.
Thanks for the replies. I will find different oil more suitable for the MINI and save the Schaeffers for my other vehicles. I will not be getting any more Schaeffers for a while since I get it yearly with a friend so we can get enough for the free delivery.
The Mobil 1 0W-40 would be a good oil for your car.
The BMW/MINI 5w30 from the dealer is less expensive than Mobil 1 0w-40 and will work just as well.
I'm not sure long OCI are good with direct injection. Some DI engines have quite a bit of oil coking on the valves.
